Thundercats
Yes, as the name suggested, the Thundercats were meant to be cats (of some form, anyway). No, they didn't look even remotely feline. Anyway, the Thundercats were good guys who fought off the bad guys, namely Mummra and his gang. The Thundercats lived on Third Earth, following their original planet, Thundera, being destroyed.
Lion-O was the Thundercats' leader, who had a weapon referred to as "Sword of Omens" which was very powerful. Then there was: Tygra, who was second in command and had the power to be invisible (very handy, I might add, it made me jealous); Cheetara, the fast Thundercat with her ability to see into the future and past; Panthro, the oldest Thundercat who was very quick and agile for his age (at least twelve in human years, I reckon); Snarf, who I believe was an extremely annoying red thing and Wily-Kat and Wily-Kit, who were annoying kids. On the bad guys' side, were Slithe, Monkian, Jackalman, Vultureman and Rataro. They always lost to the Thundercats, as you would expect bad guys in a cartoon to. Also, the bad guys being birdy, didn't help them.
Anyway, I am sure Britain imported the cartoon in around 1988; the programme hasn't been repeated much at all. Much merchandise was available at the time. I myself had all the figures and one of those damned grey swords on which there was a button you pressed to make the red circular panel light up - the ones that always broke after only a week and caused many a childish tantrum. Ahhh, the wonderful memories of childhood.
